Winter in Sainte Foy………..

The winter season here speaks for itself. The resort itself a hidden gem………small, friendly, very picturesque and uncrowded. Sainte Foy is excellent for all abilities, plus it has the benefit of being so close so some of the other larger resorts such as Val D’Isere, Tignes, the Paridiski (Les Arcs/La Plagne) and La Rosiere, all of which are within easy reach if you’re looking for variety.

Sainte Foy resort itself sits at 1550m, with the newest 6 man Marquise lift reaching 2650m offering a superb wide swooping blue, from which you can also access some beautiful red runs and the resort’s only groomed black. The resort has so far retained its unspoiled, authentic charm and tends to be less expensive compared with some of its neighbouring resorts since it doesn’t cater for tour operators. The resort is served by a total of just four lifts, but is not to be underestimated as it continues to attract expert skiers from nearby larger resorts due to its endless off piste challenges where there are always fresh tracks to be made.

Relax with an apres-ski beer, vin chaud, or superb ‘chocolat viennoise’ in one of the lively bars, such as the Iceberg bar at the foot of the slopes or the Pitchouli bar in the resort centre which has swings instead of bar stools! Both have regular live music or karaoke and the resort also offers torchlit descents and tobogganing on the nursery slopes during holidays.
